75th Independence Day was celebrated at GSFC University on 15th August 2021. Flag hoisting was done by Shri P.K. Taneja, IAS(Retd.), President , GSFC University. On this occasion, Dr. Nikhil Zaveri, Vice Chancellor, Shri Ramesh Panchal, Director(Admin), faculties, non-teaching staff and students remained present and witnessed the celebration.
On this occasion, Honorable President Shri P.K. Taneja addressed to the gathering and said that 75th Independence day has a special significance as we are now entering into the “Amrit Mahotsav” celebration which signifies our identity as a strong nation over the past 74 years. Today India is seen as the largest and strongest democratic leader which always rises on the occasion to guide and lead for the welfare of the world. India was actively contributing to the field of Science and Technology centuries long before modern laboratories were set up and continues to play an important role. He added that we have a definite role to play in the Independent India by contributing to the society in the sphere of knowledge that creates opportunities for the young boys and girls in the professional areas of their work. He talked about YOGA and its significance and how it is going to evolve mankind with many virtues of kindness and humanity. Today, the whole world celebrates International Yoga Day on 21st June every year.
He expressed his happiness with the progress made by the University so far. He said he is happy that the Start-up activity is now picking up at the University under GUIITAR Council. He was elated to share the faculties achievement and congratulated our one of the faculty for receiving a Major Grant of Rs.43 lakhs for the research project on Breast Cancer Stem Cells funded by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission(GSBTM), Govt. of Gujarat, as well as receiving Visiting Scientist Fellowship Award from National Science Academy. He congratulated student groups for receiving an SSIP grant of Rs. 2,33,500 for their start-up ideas. He said that the University is coming out with 3 new specializations in B. Tech. (Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering) at SOT, 3 new UG programs and 1 new PG program at SOS, 1 new UG program at SOM, and 3 new Postgraduate Diploma programs in Industrial Safety, Disaster Management and Fire & Life Safety Audit. Such expansion will enable the University to offer education in the emerging areas which will benefit hundreds of students.
Lastly he expressed that on this very auspicious day, let’s make every effort to hone our students to become, not just educated, but become more confident young Indians who can take our nation forward.
On this occasion, Science View Magazine & Mind Brew Magazine was released by the President. The cultural program was organized by the university students. The main attraction of the Program was Fire & Safety drill performed by the students of B.Tech Fire & EHS.
